Admission

Admission to the Army Museum is included with your entry fee to the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site.

Please refer to Parks Canada for information on accessing the site.

In the ‘off-season’, private tours of The Army Museum are available for organizations for a donation of $100. Please contact us to make arrangements.

The Army Museum also offers In-Museum Education Programs and In-School Education Programs for a variety of age groups / curriculums.

Car

There are two vehicle entrances to the Halifax Citadel – on Sackville St. and Rainnie Dr., next to the Halifax Common.

Walking

You’re heading for Citadel Hill, the highest point of downtown Halifax. Look for the city’s famous Old Town Clock, which is located at the base of Citadel Hill (on Brunswick Street). Climb the stairs in front of the Clock and you’ll see the entrance for the Halifax Citadel.

Bus

While none of the bus routes service Citadel Hill directly, a number of busses stop nearby on Bell Road or Brunswick Street. Please consult Metro Transit for more details. 

Tour Bus/ Shuttle

Taxi services and tour busses will drop you at the front entrance to the site.

There is an on-site paid parking lot for up to 80 cars located inside the fort’s back parking lot. The rate is $8.50 per visit. The Halifax Citadel National Historic Site also has designated areas for tour buses, recreational vehicles, and visitors with disabilities. Please refer to Parks Canada for more information.

The Army Museum allows still and video photography inside the museum for your personal non-commercial use.

The site is wheelchair accessible, please enter through the front gate. The museum is accessible with a lift in the information center.
